Madison Zine Fest with Studio Anti Thesis

Must record the lovely moments before they spin away like the leaves in the autumn.

Last weekend our studio attended the Madison Zine Fest. It was held in the Helen C White Library down on Campus, looking over the water.

The tables they gave us were huge! Proper library tables dwarf the the half table folding ones we get at most conventions. It was a bit odd to hang out with all the other zines. We were one of perhaps 4 other comic zins presenting. Everything else had to do with poetry, writing, and special interest groups. We traded more than we sold, but only by a bit, and got to talk with lots of people. While Kim and I manned the table, Pete and Maciek worked on finishing the pre-press work on BYOB. It was strange not being surrounded by anime cosplayers, but was enjoyable. Strangly tiring as well. When Pete and Maciek came to pick us up, Pete told me I was 'Out of Socialist Juice', apparently I must have not squeezed enough Socialism Fruit that morning.

After the 'fest we went out to La Hacienda with the guys who do Whisp and Seth who is the artist for The bunny, the Turtle, and Bunny Meets Turtle Zines. It was great connecting with everyone, the rehab25 guys are hilarious.

After parting ways, the studio folk headed back to Casa Smuga, and work on the final pages of byob commenced. I intercepted a call from Ray and we went out to watch Ghost in the Shell: Innocence, which I'd been wanting to see. It was very beautiful, but also very much like the Stand Alone Complex series. Didn't make me think as hard as the first movie, but was enjoyable.

Sunday [livejournal.com profile] bloodlossgirl and I had the awesome-ist girly day, we drove east and parked in a public parking and then had a beautiful day wandering around Wawatosa, taking pictures, talking about literature, invading peoples houses.

The weather was perfect autumn crispness, cool, but warm in the sunlight. Much research was done. We walked around in the sunshine and autumn for around two and a half hours, only stopping for some book browsing in the little read bookshop, a high end gift shop, and a local pub and resturant that made me some excellent fish tacos.

Then home again, home again, so H could lend me some awesome novels, Title, War of the Oaks, The Eyre Affair (and seq), and one other I think I haven't had time to look at yet, and we sat out on her balcony and I read, while she computed wirelessly. I was waiting for my husband to pick me up because I was a silly goose and had forgotten to bring my keys on the expedition, and didn't realize he wasn't going to be there when we got back to town. No matter really, we chilled, I met D, and had the most interesting tea... ;)

I can hardly remember what I did on Friday, did I stay home and work on art? That's likely.
With weekends this full, is it any wonder I end up too tired to blog? Too tired, but always happy.
